Whether you’re looking to make money from home, add a new stream of income, or you’re already involved in Direct Sales or Network Marketing you might be wondering can Affiliate Marketing really make you money? Before we get to that let me clarify a couple of things.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate Marketing is simply selling other peoples products where you have monetary incentives. Wait a minute, don’t you get to sell your Network Marketing company’s products too for a partial commission? Yes, of course. The biggest difference is Affiliate Marketing typically pays you on what you sell without having to recruit new team members so you can override their sales too. Very rare but it can pay out up to 2 levels. You can be an affiliate marketer in any niche; electronics, travel, banking, basket weaving, insurance, Internet Marketing, gardening, Real Estate, etc. Just pick your niche you want to specialize in and you can sign up as an affliate marketer with the company. Most companies don’t require you to pay to become an affiliate. In the cases where you do have to “pay to play” make sure it’s worth the return. Also, evaluate what their offer you for support, like your own links, banners, training, email scripts and or script for ads.
Does Affiliate Marketing Work?
Simply answered, YES it does. Is it an overnight success? Absolutely not, but it is an easier sell than selling a product from an MLM company or a pitch to sign up as a distributor into your business. These are some older checks you see here that I received, small checks ranging from $30 to $500 each. Lets say that each check is no more than $70. Now imagine getting 23 of them EVERY month. It may not be a full time income but it will certainly help you with some marketing capital to grow or support another business. Some of my own affiliate checks are coming in from the sale I made back in 2010 and people continue to use that service today. Why? Because they get value out of it every single month and they apply that service to their own business every day. Now that is some strong retention. Something most of us can’t say the same thing for with our primary MLM. Attrition is inevitable in Network Marketing so having another source of income is crucial to offset some of your
expenses while building a business.
Depending on what your niche is your target audience will be people that will be in the market for the product you’re marketing. If its tools you’re selling for the Network Marketing professionals then your audience will be MLM distributors, regardless of their company. It always helps when you actually use whatever tools you’re selling. Every home based business owner wants to have tools in their arsenal that work so they don’t have to as much. Some of these tools you can sell for a one time affiliate commission and others with which you can build a solid, long lasting and sustainable residual income…yes, all that outside of your primary Network Marketing company without jeopardizing it.
Best Ways To Promote Your Affiliate Links
Like I mentioned earlier, it’s important for you to be a product of the product you’re trying to promote so when you do an illustration or a review you will actually know what you’re talking about. Here is a brief list of what I consider the best methods to promote a product or service as an affiliate:
1. Video – this can be either a video of you talking directly into the camera or a tutorial (screen captured video)
2. Article – submit an article describing either your experience with the product or an overview
3. Blog post – either a video or a review would be good. An educational post which will add value to others prior to promoting the link.
As a side note, you can also promote your affiliate links on autopilot if you’re building your list. This is why all top marketers use systems. A system that can help you not only generate daily leads for your business but that can help you build a sizable income via affiliate commission checks outside of your MLM.
In conclusion, here is what I want to encourage you to do. Regardless of where you are in your Network Marketing company, you need more leads and you need more working capital. You can only accomplish that outside of your MLM business. Start generating affiliate sales immediately because the more working capitol you create the longer you will stay in this profession. Most people quit this great business because their either don’t have enough qualified leads to talk to about their opportunity and because expenses on autoship and other tools are greater than their income.
