I can camp out for days on this subject right here. Making lots of money quick and very fast seems to be the theme in the online MLM world these days. The Work From Home business space has become a conveyor belt of multi MLM deals and chase-for-wealth-fast for the people these days. If you want to make a lot of money fast, you need to put the “WORK” back into WORK From Home. Also, if you desire the “guru” money when someone makes a 4 or 5 figure income with a push of a button or a phone call you need to understand that it took them TIME in order to do that.
The other day I saw someone promote on Facebook their opportunity and their promo line was “Tired of not making any money in your Network Marketing company? Join me and make $2,000 by end of next week, GUARANTEED!” Although I find that very funny I’m not sure I’m supposed to be laughing when I know so many vulnerable new marketers fall for that crappy pitch. Guaranteed? Are you freaking kidding me? As a professional, you need to understand that you should never use absolutes in your prospecting and/or presentation, don’t use words like invest, guaranteed, exactly, etc.
If you never made more than $1,000 a month with your primary business. If you don’t have a sizable list of subscribers, if you don’t have years of proven track record of success, if you don’t have the influence of picking up a phone and getting everyone you talk to on paper, what in the world makes you think you can make $10k in a couple of weeks??? Stop fooling yourself and keep jumping from one opportunity to the next thinking this time it’s going to be different. If you’re going to have any sustainable results it will require work and focus. Anything worth keeping and bragging about requires time and hard work. Yes, I know what you’re saying “but Raphael, what about those Internet Marketers that make $30k or $5k over the weekend with a product launch or some affiliate contest? They do it, why can’t I?” Well, you CAN do it too once you’ve built a list and built a relationship with that list. People should stop comparing themselves to others and start comparing the work they are doing today to what they’ve done yesterday and the week before.
Let’s face it, idiots that promote get rich quick schemes only make guys like myself look better. Someone who has a legitimate long term and sustainable business to offer. So I don’t mind at all the flashy headlines but what I do care about is that new person that’s frustrated and burned out, perhaps even jaded from their past failures and now they see this pie in the sky broadcast thinking they have another chance. Settle down, focus and pay attention. I’d like to share with you some of the things you need to be looking at when evaluating a flashy offer.
1. What caused your challenges with your past business(es)? If it was more than one business and reason(s) were the same then it’s time you fix those issues because you will bring those same issues with your to your next opportunity.
2. Are the same activities requires to make this insane amount of money that were required in your last deal? If so, isn’t that a clue?
3. Do some homework on the person promising that pipe dream. Google them, Facebook them, look for testimonials.
4. Google the location of the business entity. Perhaps even use Google Earth and see if there is a real address and not some hole in the wall or a barn.
5. Google the actual opportunity. Read the reviews of some 3rd party credible resource not a review article by a fellow marketer.
6. Check with DSA and MLMWatchDog.com
These are just a few things to look out for. At the end of the day,work on yourself and your skills. If you’re looking for guidance then find someone who will find time for you and can offer you a simple, sustainable work plan. They will find time for you if you prove to be the person you told them you are when you found them. “When the student is ready the teacher will appear”. We all heard that, now put it to practice.
